Thermal Force Feedback System -
Non Destructive Testing & Adaptive Feedback
Thermal Force Feedback is a concept designed by a welding engineer
from a large European automotive company. This ingenious method
involves the use of a unidirectional "braking" electrode
positioner outfitted with a force measuring load cell that can
"feel" the spot weld grow as it is being developed.
This technology has been successfully proven in manufacturing
environments with the use of pneumatic and hydraulic welding cylinders.
With the current crop of electrical servo-guns, the TFF technology
will be more applicable since this type of electrode positioner
can simulate the required "braking" operation.
Demonstrations of this technology can be witnessed in our R&D
welding lab which is located in WTC's Technical Center in Farmington
Hills Michigan.
